Repetitive Strain Injury (R.S.I.) can be caused by excessive repetitive movements and overuse that strain the muscles, nerves, and tendons of any joint. The most well-known form is the wrist joint, which can be caused by excessive typing, writing, drawing, painting, etc.
While it may only be mildly uncomfortable to start, it can gradually become painful. If untreated, it can become severe and can start reflecting and referring pain into the forearm and the elbow joint. Without treatment, this condition can become a long-lasting issue with possible inflammation, weakness in the joint, and constant severe pain. There are times when it will not be possible to continue to work due to the adverse effects on your body.
Cases of R.S.I. have usually been prescribed painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs to manage the pain. Depending on the severity you may need a splint or support of some kind.
Although the painkillers and the anti-inflammatory drug may provide some relief, they do not fix the actual issues in the joint; they merely temporarily mute your body’s cry for help. Bowen Therapy works directly with your brain through the nervous system to relax and relieve strain in the muscles and nerves in your joints and strengthen from the inside. As it is working with and on the nerve cells in your fascia, it is extremely gentle thereby preventing a defensive reaction from the brain.
I have treated patients with mild to severe R.S.I. and they are all now managing without any drugs.
